Austrian Post Now Delivers Electrically Even in the Mountains
Until now, Austrian Post had mainly electrified its delivery fleet in major cities. Moving forward, however, it will also operate electrically in mountainous regions—thanks to 100 all-wheel-drive (AWD) electric delivery vehicles
Austrian Post has started deploying the first of these 100 AWD electric vehicles, marking the first time its operations in mountainous terrain are fully electric. While the high-torque electric vans can handle many inclines, AWD capabilities are still necessary on certain mountain roads in Austria, which are legally restricted to all-wheel operation. Reliable delivery under "winter road conditions" is a priority

The company has invested over €4 million in procuring these vehicles. Though the AWD electric vehicle procurement was opened via tender, only one manufacturer submitted a bid—and that was Maxus, the Chinese brand of SAIC, with their eDeliver 7 4×4
Maxus is already familiar to Austrian Post’s fleet: back in 2023, the company ordered just over 700 electric transporters from them—mostly the smaller eDeliver 3.
The eDeliver 7 4×4, 5.36 meters long (L2 version), has an 88 kWh battery, delivering around 200 kilometers of range in daily operations. It offers a 6.7 m³ cargo capacity and features like air conditioning, parking sensors, a rearview camera, and safety assistance systems including autonomous emergency braking, driver fatigue detection, and blind-spot monitoring—all highlighted by Austrian Post
These AWD electric vans will gradually replace older diesel AWD vehicles in delivery centers that already have the requisite charging infrastructure.
Peter Umundum, Board Member for Parcel & Logistics at Austrian Post AG, stated:
“The deployment of our first AWD electric vehicles is a genuine novelty! While other vehicle fleets are only now starting to switch to e-mobility in urban areas, we at the Post are going one step further—bringing carbon-free last-mile delivery to mountainous regions as well.”
He added:
“With electric AWD, we ensure reliable, year-round delivery and are pursuing a sustainable logistics strategy across Austria.”
Just a few weeks earlier, Austrian Post announced that by the end of the year, delivery in Vienna will be completely CO₂-free. Other cities like Graz, Innsbruck, and Salzburg already offer CO₂-free delivery. Since 2022, Austrian Post has been acquiring only electric vehicles nationwide, adding approximately 1,000 new EVs each year.
Currently, around 5,000 electric delivery vehicles are in operation across Austria. By 2030, the entire fleet of 10,000 delivery vehicles is set to be fully electrified—so the halfway mark has already been achieved.
In the European new energy commercial vehicle parts market, asiautos, with its extensive support for the eDeliver3, eDeliver5, and eDeliver7 models, has become a core force in providing genuine, high-quality parts. As a professional Chinese manufacturer, asiautos not only offers a full range of parts for these three models, but also earns recognition from local dealers and repair facilities for its quality and efficient export services that meet European standards.

asiautos: Professional supplier of genuine quality parts for eDeliver3/eDeliver5/eDeliver7 in Europe
The company's parts portfolio precisely matches the core needs of these three models: For the eDeliver3's short-distance urban delivery applications, it provides high-durability brake pads and discs (suitable for frequent start-stop operations) and high-efficiency air conditioning filters (compliant with European indoor air quality standards); for the eDeliver5's medium- and long-distance transport needs, it enhances the load-bearing performance of chassis components such as shock absorbers and suspension arms, while also optimizing battery cooling system components; and for the eDeliver7's high-capacity freight operations, it supplies exterior components such as high-strength bumpers and door assemblies, as well as heavy-duty drivetrain components. Asiautos strictly adheres to original equipment manufacturer (OEM) standards, and all parts are ECE-certified. Brake pads utilize ceramic-based materials with a thermal decay temperature exceeding 600°C, suitable for braking on winding European mountain roads. The cabin air filter has been upgraded to an H13-grade HEPA filter with a PM2.5 filtration efficiency exceeding 99%, meeting Europe's high standards for in-vehicle hygiene. Production utilizes automated production lines with precision tolerances within 0.02mm, ensuring seamless compatibility with OEM parts.
Asiautos has overseas warehousing centers in Germany and France, enabling fast 3-7 day delivery of parts for the eDeliver series, significantly reducing inventory costs for European customers. The company also offers localized customization, such as enhancing low-temperature frost resistance for parts in the Nordic market and optimizing anti-corrosion coatings for parts in the Mediterranean region. Leveraging its wholesale and comprehensive product offerings, asiautos has become a trusted parts partner for European eDeliver3, eDeliver5, and eDeliver7 users, providing solid support for after-sales service.
