On May 13, Chery Automobile held a safety-themed press conference in the Chery Collision Safety Laboratory in Wuhu, and officially launched the first C-class flagship sedan built on the new E0X platform - Fengyun A9L. The new car is 532-inch in size, aims at the manufacturing standard of million-class luxury sedans, and intends to impact the high-end new energy market.
From the perspective of market performance , since the opening of pre-orders for the Fengyun A9L at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show, as of May 3, 5,386 blind orders have been received. In response to consumer demand, Chery announced that it would issue an additional limited edition of 5,000 founding edition models. This data initially shows the market's attention to Chery's high-end products.
In terms of safety performance, the Fengyun A9L has completed a number of extreme tests at the Chery Longshan Test Center, among which the "Triathlon Test" simulates an extreme environment: passing a 400mm deep water area, a 40km/h bottom scraping test, and a 55km/h center column collision test.
The results showed that the vehicle power system and battery pack remained intact, with insulation resistance stable at more than 500Ω/V. Another "double-car collision test" simulated a collision at a relative speed of 120km/h. After the collision, the passenger compartment structure was intact, the doors could be opened normally, the airbags popped out in time, and there was no leakage, fire or explosion in the fuel tank and battery.
In terms of technical configuration , the Fengyun A9L is equipped with the Kunpeng Super Hybrid CDM6.0 power system, which has undergone 15,000 hours of bench verification and 2 million kilometers of vehicle testing, and supports lifetime warranty. The AI Digital Chassis 2.0 uses a combination of front double wishbone and rear five-link suspension, and with the CDC road pre-aiming function, it can adjust the damping in real time to improve stability. The driving assistance system is equipped with 27 sensors, supporting 200 meters of ultra-long-distance detection, covering high-speed emergency obstacle avoidance, ghost head braking and other scenarios.
In terms of body safety , high-strength steel and aluminum materials account for 88%, and the strength of hot-formed steel reaches 2000MPa. Combined with the Kunpeng Square Knife battery with 41 layers of protection, passive safety is further enhanced.
The cabin is equipped with 9 airbags, a CN95-level air filtration system and a low electromagnetic radiation design. The formaldehyde concentration is only 1/10 of the national standard, so pregnant passengers can also ride with peace of mind.
In terms of design and endurance , the Fengyun A9L adopts oriental wisdom aesthetic design, the body gap accuracy is controlled at 0.1mm, and the nano-level 8-layer spray painting process is applied. The Kunpeng Super Hybrid CDM6.0 system has a comprehensive endurance of over 2,500km, a pure electric endurance of 260km, and a fuel consumption of as low as 3.65L per 100km, taking into account both long-distance travel and daily commuting needs.
