The MG Marvel R marks a turning point in the story of one of Britain’s most iconic automotive brands. Once famous for nimble roadsters and classic sports cars, MG has reinvented itself under SAIC Motor as a global force in intelligent electric mobility. The Marvel R embodies this evolution—a sophisticated, all-electric SUV that blends European design with cutting-edge Chinese innovation.

2. From the Marvel X to the Marvel R

The journey began in 2018, when SAIC introduced the Roewe Marvel X in China. It was one of the first high-tech electric SUVs in the Chinese market, showcasing SAIC’s strength in EV technology and smart connectivity. Building on that foundation, SAIC developed an international version for the MG brand. In 2021, the MG Marvel R Electric debuted in Europe, representing MG’s first step into the premium electric SUV segment.

Designed at the SAIC London Design Studio, the Marvel R expresses a clean, futuristic aesthetic inspired by European minimalism. Its exterior combines athletic proportions with refined simplicity, while the interior feels modern and high-tech. A 17.9-inch central touchscreen and 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster dominate the cabin, supported by high-quality materials, ambient lighting, and smart connectivity powered by MG’s iSMART system.

4. Power with Purpose

Underneath its sleek body, the Marvel R hides impressive performance. It offers both dual-motor rear-wheel-drive and tri-motor all-wheel-drive versions. The top variant produces up to 288 horsepower (212 kW) and 665 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0–100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds. A 70 kWh battery delivers a WLTP range of up to 402 km, while fast charging replenishes 80% of power in around 40 minutes—balancing speed, endurance, and efficiency.

5. Expanding Across the World

The MG Marvel R made its European debut in the Netherlands, Germany, France, and Norway, where it quickly gained recognition for its strong performance, premium feel, and competitive pricing. Later, MG expanded availability to the Middle East and Latin America, solidifying the brand’s reputation as a serious global EV contender. Though currently offered only in left-hand drive, the Marvel R remains one of MG’s most advanced vehicles.
