How can Chinese new energy vehicles enter the European market? As a region with a well-developed road network, Europe has a very important part of the automotive culture in addition to family cars. BYD is ready to try this new field, and this new car is called E-Val: a large electric van designed for the European market, which will become a strong competitor to Ford E-Transit, Renault MasterE-Tech and Fiat E-Ducato.
BYD E-Vali's target market is the last mile parcel delivery service in the city, thanks in large part to its huge cargo space. The standard version (3.5GVM) is 5995mm long, 2780mm high, 2096mm wide, and has a wheelbase of 3860mm, providing up to 13.9 cubic meters of cargo space.
If that's not enough for your business, the extended wheelbase version (4.25 GVM) is 6995mm long and can accommodate up to 17.9 cubic meters of items. By comparison, the largest E-Transit has a capacity of 15.1 cubic meters.
BYD says the E-Vali is tall enough for drivers to stand upright in the cargo hold, reducing stress when loading and unloading items. The van also has sliding side doors and wide-opening rear doors, as well as folding seats.
While the BYD can carry more cargo than the Ford, it can't travel as far on a single charge. With 201 horsepower for the single-motor version and 335 horsepower for the dual-motor version, both E-Vali models use 80.64kWh "blade" batteries that provide 137 to 155 miles of range before the battery is depleted, while the E-transit has a range of between 211 and 249 miles, depending on the specific model. This is strange, after all, the Ford's battery is only 68kWh. So the specific range will have to wait until the new car is released.
With a maximum charging speed of 188kw, the BYD can charge from 10% to 80% in at least 30 minutes. This is the fastest charging speed among all-electric vans sold in Europe. Compared with the 50kW charging speed of the Fiat E-Ducato, Chinese car companies have the strength to kill in seconds. It also has the function of discharging outside the vehicle, so it can power other electrical appliances from the main battery. BYD is old and traditional. In addition, heat pump air conditioning is also standard, which is used to heat the cabin when the weather gets cold and help maintain the mileage as much as possible.
In order to make it easier for drivers and couriers to get in and out of the truck, there is also a folding table hidden in the center console. In the cab, the E-Vali's instrument and central control screen are still standard BYD designs, but the design is more practical, with a lot of storage space, and it is said that there are hidden refrigerators and folding seats, which are more practical.
