LDV/ MAXUS EV30

MAXUS EV30 — The Rise of a Global Electric Delivery Van

1. From LDV to MAXUS: A Cross-Border Rebirth

The story begins in the UK.
For decades, LDV was a well-known British light commercial vehicle maker.
After the 2008 financial crisis, LDV fell into decline.

In 2009, SAIC Motor acquired LDV’s technology and intellectual property, and used this foundation to build a brand-new global LCV brand: MAXUS.

By 2011, SAIC MAXUS was officially launched.
It inherited LDV’s engineering DNA, but combined it with China’s manufacturing scale and global ambition, quickly expanding into Europe, the Middle East, Oceania, South America, and beyond.

2. Entering the EV Era: MAXUS Chooses to Lead

As global logistics moved toward electrification and green mobility, MAXUS identified a strategic opportunity:

Create a purpose-built electric light commercial vehicle for last-mile delivery.

Not a converted gasoline model, but a ground-up EV platform.

This idea became the starting point of a new project—
what would ultimately become the MAXUS EV30.

3. Birth of the EV30: A Purpose-Built Electric Logistics Van

The EV30 was conceived from the beginning as a dedicated electric vehicle, not a retrofit.

Its design philosophy revolves around real-world logistics needs:

  • Lightweight Construction: Extensive use of aluminum and composite materials.

  • Big Cargo Volume: Over 1,700 mm usable interior width and efficient boxy design.

  • Low Operating Cost: Around 300 km NEDC range optimized for city delivery.

  • Fast Charging: 41.8/41.9 kWh LFP battery, 45 minutes fast charge from low to 80%.

From day one, the EV30 was positioned as:
“A smart, electric solution for urban last-mile delivery.”

4. The Global Identity: In Europe, It Becomes the eDeliver 3

In 2019, EV30 debuted at the Birmingham Commercial Vehicle Show in the UK.
It immediately caught attention in Europe.

Under its global name — MAXUS eDeliver 3
the model entered major international markets:

  • United Kingdom

  • Ireland

  • Germany

  • Norway

  • Netherlands

  • Australia & New Zealand

  • Middle East and South America

Large logistics companies such as DPD and Royal Mail purchased fleets of EV30/eDeliver 3 for green delivery operations.

This made the EV30 one of the first Chinese electric LCVs to achieve broad acceptance in developed markets.

5. Continuous Evolution: EV30 Upgrades

As demand grew globally, the EV30 kept improving:

  • Stronger Motors: Up to 100 kW versions launched

  • Medium & Long Wheelbase Models: Larger cargo capacity

  • Improved Range: New CLTC range around 260+ km

  • Enhanced Durability: Better battery protection and chassis strength

EV30 evolved from a basic electric van into a core tool for cost-effective, zero-emission delivery.

6. What EV30 Represents: More Than a Vehicle

EV30 symbolizes much more than a single model:

  • It positioned MAXUS as one of the most visible Chinese EV brands in Europe.

  • It proved that Chinese-made electric LCVs can compete globally.

  • It accelerated the transition toward green urban logistics worldwide.

EV30 answered a key question for the industry:
“Can a Chinese electric commercial van succeed in mature Western markets?”

The answer: Yes — and with strong momentum.
