London / Sydney / Bangkok, September 2025 – SAIC Motor has officially introduced its premium electric vehicle brand “IM presented by MG” to global markets with the launch of two flagship models: the MG IM5, a mid-to-large all-electric sedan, and the MG IM6, a premium electric SUV. Both vehicles have made their debut in the UK, opened sales and pre-orders in Australia, and celebrated their first overseas launch in Thailand, marking an important step in SAIC’s international expansion.
In the United Kingdom, the MG IM5 is priced from £39,450 while the larger IM6 starts from £47,995, with the first customer deliveries expected in September 2025 following its official unveiling at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. In Australia, the two models are offered under the “IM by MG” sub-brand in Premium, Platinum, and Performance trims, with drive-away pricing beginning at AUD $60,990. Thailand became the brand’s first international launch market, where the IM6 was introduced with the Premium RWD 75 kWh version priced at ฿1,399,900 and the Performance AWD 100 kWh version priced at ฿1,799,900.

The MG IM5 positions itself as a premium electric sedan equipped with a 75 kWh rear-wheel drive powertrain producing 217 kW and 450 Nm of torque, with an optional 100 kWh long-range battery available. The car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds, offers up to 490 km WLTP range, and supports 153 kW DC fast charging. It comes with a digital chassis, rear-wheel steering for improved agility, advanced driver assistance systems, and a technology-rich interior featuring a 26.3-inch panoramic display, an additional passenger screen, and premium audio.

The MG IM6 enters the market as a high-end intelligent electric SUV, offering one-touch smart driving features and a luxurious digital cockpit. It is available with both a 75 kWh RWD setup in the Premium trim and a 100 kWh AWD system in the Performance trim. The AWD variant delivers acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 3.5 seconds and offers up to 634 km NEDC range. Like the IM5, the SUV benefits from SAIC’s digital chassis technology and four-wheel steering, while also adding intelligent parking and valet-style “one-click driver assist” features. Inside, the IM6 provides a multi-screen cabin experience, advanced comfort amenities, and luxury-grade finishes.

Globally, the two vehicles emphasize three core advantages: smart chassis technology with four-wheel steering for both city maneuverability and highway stability, highly efficient 75–100 kWh battery systems with DC charging capable of restoring 10 to 80 percent of charge in around 17–20 minutes depending on the version, and a luxury intelligent cabin that integrates premium sound, ventilated and massage seating, and advanced voice-enabled interaction.

SAIC Motor stated that the IM5 and IM6 embody the company’s mission to combine cutting-edge intelligent technology with a premium driving experience for global customers. “With the IM5 and IM6, we bring intelligent innovation and exceptional driving quality to international EV markets. The Goodwood debut marks a key milestone in IM’s global journey,” the company noted. Australian media highlighted the models as strong rivals to Tesla’s Model 3 and Model Y, particularly given their competitive pricing and high specification starting from AUD $60,990. In Thailand, the IM6 is positioned directly against Tesla’s Model Y and XPeng’s G6, with the brand emphasizing luxury, intelligence, and advanced driving capabilities.
“IM presented by MG” is SAIC Motor’s premium intelligent EV brand, designed to deliver advanced electrification, next-generation intelligent driving, and a digital-first cabin experience. Built through SAIC’s global R&D network, IM vehicles are tailored to meet the expectations of premium EV customers worldwide
