LDV Terron9 and eTerron9 to be Launched in Australia Market Early 2025 by Asiautos Auto Parts(LDV vehicles Aftermarket Parts Expert)

In the global pickup truck market, the export of Chinese pickup trucks has received attention and recognition from many countries. Recently, SAIC Maxus launched the most noteworthy model to date, Terron 9, in Australia. After the launch of the car, it will become the second pickup truck after SAIC Maxus T60, providing diesel and pure electric power. It is worth noting that in addition to the same power system, the size and design of the whole vehicle adopt new specifications.

Foreign media in Australia believe that SAIC Maxus Terron 9 (diesel version) will become a competitor to the next generation of Toyota Hilux and Ford Ranger, and the 2025 LDV Terron 9 has obtained the sales qualification of diesel and pure electric models in Australia.

The overseas name of the diesel version is Terron 9, equipped with a 2.5T diesel four-cylinder engine with a maximum power of 164kW. According to local media, the engine equipped with this car may become one of the most powerful four-cylinder engines in the same class. The pure electric version of the car is called eTerron 9. SAIC Maxus has confirmed that it will debut in Australia in early 2025, becoming the first four-wheel drive pure electric pickup truck in the local showroom of the car brand.

According to the data published by the Australian media, SAIC Maxus Terron 9 does not seem to have exposed the long cargo box version. The standard cargo box is 5500mm long, 1997mm wide, 1860mm high, and has a wheelbase of 3300mm. The width of the car is likely to be consistent with the domestic size (2005mm with rearview mirror) due to different assessment standards in different countries. The size of the whole vehicle is 105mm longer, 97mm wider, 41mm higher, and 125mm longer wheelbase than the T60 Max Plus sold by SAIC Maxus Australia.

Although this is the standard cargo box model of SAIC Maxus Terron 9, the size data of the car is larger than the best-selling Ford Ranger and Toyota Hilux in the local area.

From the overall appearance of Terron 9, the domestic and foreign versions are basically the same, but in addition to the detailed distinction of the car logo, the overseas version has also been newly designed in the light group and other details. The domestic version of the light group has three layers of LED wicks built in, and the wicks are horizontally connected to the edge of the grille, which looks very smooth and pleasing to the eye; while the overseas version of the LED light group only supports two sets of wicks. Although it is not known whether the overseas version will be simplified in this regard, it can be felt that both the light group and the grille LOGO look more pleasing to the eye in China.

In addition, there is another detail, that is, the domestically reported real-shot Star X model has a smoked chrome decoration on the tailgate of the cargo box, which further highlights the three-dimensional sense and recognition, but the overseas version does not have it.

SAIC Maxus Terron 9 is equipped with a 2.5T diesel four-cylinder engine with a maximum power of 165kW and a peak torque expected to exceed 500N·m. It is matched with an 8-speed automatic transmission and provides two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive models. Documents approved by the local government show that the total mass of the Terron 9 is 3.32 tons and 3.5 tons respectively. The vehicle will also be equipped with large-size wheels of 10 inches or 20 inches.

SAIC Maxus' diesel models have a good reputation in Australia, but the two-wheel drive electric pickup truck eT60, which has been on sale before, has not been well recognized in the local market. The launch of eTerron 9 has attracted much attention from local Australian users and media, and there are also considerable expectations. SAIC Maxus said that eTerron 9 will be launched in the first quarter of 2025 (January-March).

Previously, the price of the eT60 in the Australian market was relatively expensive. As a basic model converted from oil to electricity, the price is twice that of the T60, with a starting price of 92,990 Australian dollars, about 435,000 yuan. It is expected that the launch of eTerron 9 will have a more reasonable price in the local market.

So far, only 100 SAIC Maxus eT60 have been sold. If the high price of eT60 is mainly for corporate commercial groups, then eTerron 9 is a private pickup truck that will soon be sold in large quantities. Currently, the single-motor and dual-motor versions of the car have been qualified for sale in Australia. The single-motor version has a maximum power of 200kW, and the dual-motor four-wheel drive version has a maximum power of 325kW.

SAIC Maxus said that the zero-to-hundred acceleration of this car is only 5.8 seconds, which is expected to be the performance of the dual-motor four-wheel drive version. The vehicle is equipped with a 102kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, and the WLTP comprehensive cruising range is 430km. The charging power of the vehicle is as high as 115kW, and it supports V2L external discharge, providing multiple 2.2kW and one 6.6kW external discharge interfaces.

The dimensions of the SAIC Maxus eTerron 9 are 5500 mm long, 1997 mm wide, 1860 mm high, and 3300 mm wheelbase. The car also supports a 235L front trunk and an openable tailgate between the cabin and the cargo box, which can provide a 2.4-meter-long loading area including the rear space. In addition, the vehicle also provides 18-inch and 20-inch wheels.

The interior of the SAIC Maxus eTerron 9 is equipped with leather seat trims and an 8-way electrically adjustable driver's seat with ventilation and massage functions. Both front seats can be folded to form an "almost flat sleeping area" that is 170 cm long.
