Extreme Cold Test at -35℃ | FOTON AUMAN Galaxy Electric & Hybrid Heavy Trucks Prove Strong Performance in Severe Winter Conditions
In the extreme cold environment of Mohe, where temperatures drop to -35℃, heavy trucks must face one of the toughest operating conditions in the world. Severe cold not only tests vehicle durability, but also exposes the biggest challenges for new energy heavy trucks, such as power loss, reduced range, slow charging, and poor heating performance.
During this winter test, Foton Motor conducted comprehensive extreme-cold testing for FOTON AUMAN Galaxy 9, FOTON AUMAN Galaxy 5M, and FOTON AUMAN Galaxy 5M PHEV, demonstrating strong reliability and efficiency for logistics transportation in cold regions.
The successful test shows that FOTON has developed a full-scenario solution for new energy heavy trucks, ensuring stable operation, high efficiency, and safe driving even in extreme winter conditions.

Pure Electric Heavy Trucks – Stable Power Even in Extreme Cold
In northern winter logistics routes, low temperature often causes power reduction, slow acceleration, and shorter driving range.
During the test at −35℃, AUMAN Galaxy electric heavy trucks showed excellent starting performance without long preheating.
-
Initial power output reached about 200 kW immediately after start
-
Galaxy 9 reached peak output within 30 minutes
-
Galaxy 5M reached peak power in about 40 minutes
-
Stable power during long-distance driving without obvious loss
This ensures reliable acceleration on highways, mountain roads, and fully loaded conditions, which is critical for long-distance transport in cold areas.
Driving safety and comfort were also tested.
After parking overnight at −25℃, the windshield was fully frozen, but the defrosting system cleared the ice quickly:
-
Galaxy 5M completed defrosting in about 10 minutes
-
Galaxy 9 completed defrosting in about 12 minutes
The intelligent heating system can raise cabin temperature quickly even at −30℃, improving driver comfort and reducing fatigue during long winter transport.
Charging efficiency is another key factor in cold regions.
AUMAN Galaxy electric trucks use high-power charging design with dual charging ports, allowing fast energy recovery even in low temperature environments.
With a driving range close to 400 km, fast charging can restore about 240 km range in a short time, greatly improving transport efficiency.

Hybrid Heavy Truck – Designed for Coal, Sand, and Heavy Load Transport
For heavy-load transport such as coal and sand in cold regions, AUMAN Galaxy 5M PHEV hybrid heavy truck provides a more flexible solution.
After parking overnight at −35℃, the truck can start instantly with stable engine speed, thanks to special low-temperature calibration and optimized hybrid system design.
Key advantages:
-
Maximum combined power up to 780 HP
-
Smooth AMT transmission for stable driving
-
Intelligent energy management system
-
Automatic switching between electric and hybrid modes
-
Energy recovery during downhill driving
This allows the truck to maintain strong climbing ability with full load while reducing fuel consumption.
Fast charging performance is also impressive, with full charging completed in about 40 minutes during testing, solving the common problem of slow energy supply in cold regions.

New Benchmark for New Energy Heavy Trucks
The −35℃ Mohe test proves that FOTON AUMAN Galaxy series heavy trucks can operate reliably in the harshest winter environments.
With strong technology, high efficiency, and stable performance, the vehicles provide a practical solution for logistics companies working in northern China, Russia, Central Asia, and other cold regions.
FOTON continues to promote the transformation toward new energy heavy trucks, providing full-temperature, full-scenario transport solutions for global users.
