When it comes to MPVs, some brands don’t rely on flashy marketing—but consistently deliver strong sales and solid reputation. That’s exactly the case with GAC Group. And now, it’s bringing out a new trump card.

This week, official images of the Trumpchi E8 PHEV were released. Positioned as a more advanced evolution of the current E8, this new model clearly aims higher—not just to be practical, but to be smarter, more efficient, and more refined. Its boldest move? Bringing LiDAR into the 200,000 RMB family MPV segment.

Strong Hybrid System: Efficiency Meets Performance

At the core of the new E8 PHEV is GAC’s latest “Xingyuan” plug-in hybrid system:

1.5T turbocharged engine + electric motor
38.883 kWh LFP battery
Pure electric range: up to 205 km
Fuel consumption (low battery): just 3.98L/100km

For a large MPV over 5 meters long and weighing more than 2 tons, this level of efficiency is seriously impressive. It strikes a strong balance between power and low running costs—ideal for family users.

Chassis Upgrade: A Major Improvement

One of the biggest complaints about the previous model was its rear torsion beam suspension. This time, GAC has addressed it directly.

The new E8 PHEV upgrades to a multi-link independent rear suspension, significantly improving ride comfort—especially for third-row passengers. This change alone elevates the driving and riding experience to a new level.

Unlike some competitors chasing aggressive styling, the E8 PHEV takes a more restrained approach.
