MG announced today that its new compact SUV "MG S5" will debut at the 2024 Chengdu Auto Show on August 30, and is scheduled to be officially launched in the fourth quarter of this year. The car has previously appeared in the product list of the 385th batch of "Announcement on Road Motor Vehicle Production Enterprises and Products" of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
It is reported that the car is built on the SAIC Xingyun pure electric exclusive architecture and is a product of the same platform as the MG4 EV. Referring to the public display picture, the exterior design of this new car is relatively simple, with split headlights on the left and right sides, traditional door handles on the side of the body, and through-type taillights at the rear. The car can be optionally equipped without: front camera, rear wiper, sunroof, luggage rack, and optional: rims, rearview mirrors.
IT Home learned that the length, width and height of the SAIC MG S5 are 4476x1849x1621 mm, the wheelbase is 2730 mm, the maximum speed is 170km/h, and it adopts a 5-seat layout. The rear axle is equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous motor with a peak power of 125kW and a lithium iron phosphate battery supplied by SAIC. The specific endurance parameters have not yet been announced.
