Geely Galaxy Xingyao 7 MAX Launches: How This New Plug-in Hybrid Sedan Plans to Shake Up the Market

Aggressive Pricing Meets Advanced Technology
One reason the Galaxy Xingyao 7 MAX is attracting so much attention is its combination of advanced technologies and competitive pricing.
The car introduces several of Geely’s latest developments, including the e-AWD intelligent electric all-wheel-drive system, the advanced H3 intelligent driving assistance package, and a newly developed chassis platform. These technologies highlight Geely’s growing ambition in the new energy sedan market.
From the outside, the vehicle adopts the brand’s new “Galaxy Waterfall” front grille design with an illuminated front fascia. Buyers can choose from five exterior colors, including Glazed Blue, Dark Iron Gray, Ink Black, Ding Kiln White, and Forged Silver, all designed to match modern family-oriented styling preferences.
With a body length close to 5 meters and a wheelbase reaching 2,845 mm (2,852 mm on some versions), the Xingyao 7 MAX delivers a long, elegant silhouette while emphasizing spacious practicality for daily family use.

Smart Cabin Designed Around Family Needs
Inside the cabin, Geely’s Galaxy Flyme Auto 2 system becomes the centerpiece of the experience.
The driver receives a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, while the central infotainment screen comes in either 14.6-inch or 15.4-inch configurations. A large 16.6-inch head-up display further enhances the futuristic atmosphere.
The intelligent cockpit also integrates an AI Agent system and the Eva virtual assistant robot, which Geely claims can respond within just 0.29 seconds with an almost perfect wake-up recognition rate. In today’s Chinese EV market, intelligent interaction has become a standard expectation, and Geely clearly intends to compete at the highest level.
Interior space is another major highlight. Front-row legroom reaches 1,083 mm, shoulder space measures 1,502 mm, and the flat-floor rear cabin greatly improves passenger comfort. The overall design philosophy clearly prioritizes family travel and daily usability.

Comfort Features Aim Beyond Expectations
Comfort is not limited to space alone.
The Xingyao 7 MAX uses laminated acoustic glass and advanced noise insulation materials to create a quieter cabin environment. Seats are filled with 15 mm high-elasticity foam and can recline into a 180-degree flat position. The front seats support 16 different lounging configurations, allowing users to easily switch between driving, resting, movie watching, or camping scenarios.
Small practical details also stand out. The cabin includes a foldable tray table capable of supporting up to 15 kg, adding convenience for work or dining during trips.
For entertainment and ambiance, the vehicle offers 256-color ambient lighting and a 16-speaker Flyme Sound audio system, catering to users who value premium in-car audio experiences.
The interior is available in three color themes—Cloud White, Sandalwood Brown, and Silk Gray—while embossed perforated seats and extensive soft-touch materials help create a warm and upscale atmosphere.

Advanced Intelligent Driving Technology Enters the Mainstream
One of the most significant upgrades on the Xingyao 7 MAX is its intelligent driving system.
The Qianli Haohan H3 system uses 26 sensing units to enable NOA highway navigation assistance, including automatic lane changes, ramp entry and exit, adaptive speed control, and obstacle avoidance.
Parking technology has also been heavily upgraded. The system supports more than 360 parking scenarios, including angled parking spaces commonly found in residential communities and shopping centers. Functions such as memory parking, remote parking, and autonomous parking after exiting the vehicle further strengthen the car’s appeal for urban family users.
On the safety side, the vehicle supports automatic emergency obstacle avoidance at speeds up to 130 km/h and automatic emergency braking at 120 km/h.
Another standout feature is the tire blowout stabilization system. According to Geely, even in the event of a sudden tire blowout at 160 km/h on straight roads or 100 km/h during cornering, the system can rapidly identify the damaged tire and stabilize the vehicle. Similar technologies have previously appeared mainly in premium models such as the NIO ET5, making the inclusion of this feature in a family-oriented sedan especially noteworthy.

Strong Hybrid Performance with Long Electric Range
Powertrain options include both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions equipped with Geely’s Thor AI Hybrid 2.0 system.
The gasoline engine produces a maximum output of 82 kW. The two-wheel-drive version uses a single electric motor with 140 kW output, delivering a combined system power of 222 kW.
The all-wheel-drive version adds a rear motor producing 90 kW, resulting in a total system output of 312 kW.
Electric-only range is another key advantage. The two-wheel-drive model offers up to 230 km of pure electric range, while the all-wheel-drive version reaches 220 km, both equipped with a 28.3 kWh battery pack.
Compared with competitors such as the BYD Qin L, which offers around 80 km of electric range, the Xingyao 7 MAX significantly raises expectations within the mass-market plug-in hybrid segment.

Can Geely Truly Challenge BYD’s Dominance?
For years, BYD’s Qin series and Seal 06 models have dominated China’s mainstream plug-in hybrid sedan market. However, the launch of the Galaxy Xingyao 7 MAX could reshape the competitive landscape by offering consumers another strong alternative.
Compared with some joint-venture competitors that focus primarily on stability and fuel efficiency, Geely is aggressively pushing intelligent driving, premium comfort, long electric range, and even all-wheel-drive capability into a more affordable price range.
This strategy could be especially attractive for traditional fuel-car owners looking to transition into new energy vehicles without sacrificing practicality or comfort.
Still, BYD remains the market leader with strong brand recognition, mature hybrid technology, and a large loyal customer base. Many consumers continue to prioritize reliability, range stability, and long-term ownership confidence.
Whether the Galaxy Xingyao 7 MAX can truly disrupt the market will ultimately depend on real-world sales performance and long-term user feedback.
